The original Starbucks was opened in Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington, in 1971 by three partners: English teacher Jerry Baldwin, history teacher Zev Siegel, and writer Gordon Bowker. They opened their first store to sell high-quality coffee beans and equipment. Now, Starbucks is the largest coffeehouse company in the world, with 16,120 stores in 49 countries.They don't make a bad cup of coffee either!
